MathToWord is an AI-powered document conversion platform that transforms math PDFs, handwritten equations, images, and Hindi Devanagari text into clean, editable Word documents — saving students, teachers, researchers, and professionals hours of manual retyping every single day.
Anyone who works with mathematical content knows the pain: you receive a PDF full of equations, and you need to edit it. Maybe it's an exam paper you want to modify, a textbook chapter you want to annotate, or a research paper you need to cite. You open the PDF, try to copy the equations, and… nothing works. The formatting breaks. Superscripts flatten. Fractions become unreadable strings of characters. Symbols disappear entirely.
Traditional PDF-to-Word converters were designed for business documents — memos, invoices, reports. They have no concept of mathematical notation. A fraction, which has a numerator on top and a denominator below a horizontal bar, gets mangled into a line of text. Integrals, summations, and matrices are rendered as broken images or random characters.
This is the exact problem MathToWord was built to solve. We use specialized AI models trained specifically on mathematical and scientific content to accurately recognize, interpret, and convert equations into native Microsoft Word equation objects that you can edit, extend, and format just like you typed them yourself.
Our mission is to eliminate the friction between printed or handwritten mathematical content and digital editing. We believe that every student, educator, and researcher should be able to take any PDF, photograph, or scan of mathematical work and instantly convert it into an editable document — accurately, affordably, and without needing any technical expertise.
We are committed to making our tools accessible to users in India and worldwide, including those working in regional languages like Hindi. Our Hindi Handwriting to Text tool is specifically designed for students and professionals who work with Devanagari script alongside mathematical notation — a combination that no other tool handles well.
MathToWord provides a suite of specialized AI-powered conversion tools, each designed to solve a specific document processing challenge:
MathToWord uses a multi-stage AI pipeline to convert documents. When you upload a file, our system first preprocesses the image or PDF to enhance clarity, correct skew, and normalize lighting. The content then passes through a specialized vision-language model that understands both the visual layout and the mathematical semantics of the content.
Unlike generic OCR systems that read text left to right, our mathematical OCR engine understands spatial relationships — it knows that a small "2" positioned above and to the right of "x" means x², not "x2". It recognizes fractions, integrals, matrices, summations, and hundreds of other mathematical structures in their proper semantic form.
The recognized content is then converted into Office Math Markup Language (OMML) and embedded directly into a DOCX file. This means your equations are not inserted as images — they are real, editable equation objects that Microsoft Word's equation editor can fully manipulate.
Convert textbook chapters, exam papers, and lecture PDFs into editable notes. Add your own annotations and solutions directly in Word without retyping every equation from scratch.
Create new question papers and worksheets by converting existing materials. Modify equations, rearrange problems, and build fresh assessments from any printed or digital source.
Digitize handwritten derivations, convert conference papers for collaborative editing, and extract equations from published literature for citation and reference in your own work.
Extract and edit numeric tables, financial formulas, and structured data from scanned documents and reports without manual data entry.
We believe powerful tools should be accessible. MathToWord offers free daily credits to every user — no signup required for your first conversions. When you need more, our credit packs are one-time purchases with no subscriptions, no auto-renewals, and no surprise charges.
All payments are processed securely via Razorpay, supporting both Indian and international payment methods. View our full pricing details.
MathToWord is an independent product built by Rahul Kumar, a software developer based in Nalanda, Bihar, India. The project started from a personal frustration: as a student working with math-heavy documents, Rahul found that no existing converter could handle mathematical equations properly. Every tool either mangled the formatting, converted equations to uneditable images, or simply failed on complex notation.
Rather than accepting these limitations, Rahul built MathToWord from the ground up — combining modern AI vision models with deep knowledge of the DOCX format's equation representation (OMML) to create a converter that produces genuinely editable mathematical documents.
Every feature in MathToWord exists because a real user needed it. There is no bloat, no unnecessary complexity — just tools that solve real problems for real people working with mathematical content every day.
We take the security of your documents seriously. All file uploads are transmitted over TLS encryption. Files are processed on secure servers and automatically deleted after conversion — we never store your documents permanently and never share them with third parties.
